James (Jim) N. Long, a lifelong farmer and retired auto worker of Millington, MI was welcomed into his heavenly home on Wednesday, May 8, 2024 at the age of 85.
Jim was born in Cass City, MI on June 9, 1938, the first child of Richmond and Della Long. He developed a love of farming as a young child while helping his dad on the family farm. Jim graduated from Mayville High School with the Class of 1957. He attended Mott Junior College in Flint, MI. Jim worked for General Motors for 28 years, retiring in 1993. He also owned and operated Jim Long Farms for over 60 years in Watertown Township near Millington, MI. Jim was proud of the years he spent working for Watertown Township’s Board of Review.
He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, friend, and neighbor throughout his life. Jim spent a great deal of time supporting his grandchildren at music, sporting and other school or church events. He was a lifelong member of Pleasant View Free Methodist Church in Mayville. Jim especially enjoyed attending and supporting community activities along with Millington and Mayville School events. He also loved to travel throughout Michigan and the United States. His favorite destinations were Mackinaw City and Mackinac Island.
Jim is survived by his children, Tamara (Marvin) Pichla and Jamie Long; his grandchildren, John (Angel) Pichla, Nicholas (Mindi) Pichla, Michael (Angela) Pichla, Taylor (Joel) Fox and Tiffany Long; his great grandchildren, Gavin and Owen Pichla, Alivia and Adalynn Fox, and Theodore Pichla; his siblings, Barb Hahn, LaVon (Martha) Long, and Dawn (Michael) Wyman; his longtime friend Vickie Ulrich and her family, along with many nieces and nephews, and neighbors and friends.
He was preceded by his wife, Judy in 2010; parents; brother and sister-in-law, Mike and Sue Long; brother-in-law, Wally Hahn; and grandparents.
Jim was a kind and gentle soul. Even through the challenges of physical limitations, pain, and long hospital stays, Jim continued to express gratitude and was pleasant to everyone. His hospital caretakers and therapists were very fond of Jim and expressed bittersweet emotions when their “favorite” patient was being discharged.
Visitation will take place from 2-8 PM on Sunday, May 12, 2024 at Avram Funeral Home and 10-11 AM on Monday, May 13, 2024 at Pleasant View Free Methodist Church in Mayville.
Funeral services will be Monday, May 13, 2024 at 11 A.M at the Pleasant View Free Methodist Church with Pastor Bruce Crocket officiating.
Burial will take place in Watertown Township Cemetery.

Douglas Spencer Stout, age 85, of Mayville, MI passed away on Monday, May 6, 2024 at the United Hospice Services of Marlette Regional Hospital with his family by his side.
He was born August 12, 1938 in Mayville, MI to the late Morton and Geradline (Rice) Stout. Doug was a graduate of Mayville High School with the Class of 1956. He married Bonnie Jean Ohmer in 1959 and she passed away in 1976. Doug then married Mary JoAnne (Carrier) Holcomb on December 22, 1994 in Virginia. He Served in the United States National Guard. Doug went on to work for General Motors until his retirement. He was a member of the Jaycees and Mayville Chess Club. He loved gardening, golfing, bowling, playing chess, and cards.
Doug is survived by his wife of 29 years, Mary Jo Stout; children, Vickie (David) Buggia, Natasha (Brent) Hauger, Shawndi (Mark) Hanson and Shannon Green; step sons, Steve (Vicki) Holcomb and Keith (Susan) Holcomb; grandchildren, Micheal, David, Francis, Carli, Jordan, Seth, Sydney, Emma, Courtney, Kaleigh, MaryBeth, Samantha and Taylor; great grandchildren, Blake and Paytn; brothers, Gerald Stout and Brian Stout; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie and brothers, Rex Stout, Tom Stout and Phillip Stout.

Michael L. Kilbourn 53, died unexpectedly on December 2, 2023, as a result of a a massive pulmonary embolism.
Mike was born to Donald and Clara Kilbourn on April 23, 1970, and graduated from Mayville High School with the Class of 1988. Mike went on to attend Saginaw Valley State University.
Mike became a Correction Officer for the state of Michigan and was an avid sports fan.
Mike was a dad to three daughters. He was loved and will be missed by many. He was preceded in death by his parents and his grandparents.
He is survived by his siblings Kevin & Sherry Kilbourn, Karrie and Andrew Galvin, Marci & Roy Coates, his beloved niece Breana and Nephews Devin and Lucas.
Funeral arrangements took place on January 13, 2024 at the St Joseph Church in Mayville, Michigan.

Tressa V. Jones, 87, of Zephyrhills, Florida formerly of Flint, Michigan passed away Friday, April 26, 2024 at Rucki Hospice Care Center in Zephyr Hills. She was born to the late Reynold W. and Edith A. (Duncan) Johnson on July 22, 1936 in Millington, Michigan. She graduated from Mayville High School with the Class of 1954 and played the clarinet in the band. She then attended and graduated from Hurley School of Nursing in Flint and worked for 55 years as a Registered Nurse retiring in 2014. She delivered babies, worked in ER, surgery, was on the IV team and was the “go to nurse”.
She enjoyed playing cards, watching Fox News, traveling and cruising with her friends and loved being a nurse. Lets not forget the Braums chocolate almond ice cream she HAD to have every time she came to Oklahoma as Braums is only sold in Oklahoma.
Tressa is survived by three children, Jeffrey (Phyllis) Jones, Kimberly Jones and Brent (Heather) Jones; eight grandchildren, Ashley, Dustin, Mindy, Jenny, Kyle, Kenda, Jessie and Aden; seven great grandchildren, Rylee, Corbin, Zeke, Emmett, Kayden, Heath and Journey; brother, Willis (Loretta) Johnson; sister in law, Kay Johnson; one nieces; four nephew; and special friends, Anita, Margaret, Donna and Carole.
She is preceded in death by her brother, Caylos Johnson; and her friends Carole and Isabel.

Debra “Debbie” Kay Manns, age 70, of Silverwood passed away on Saturday, April 13, 2024 at the University of Michigan Hospital.
She was born on March 3, 1954 in Caro to Casper and Avis (Berry) Yens. Debbie was a graduate of Mayville High School with the Class of 1972. She married Jerry Manns on June 3, 2006 in Sandusky. Debbie enjoyed playing Euchre, cooking, watching game shows, camping with Jerry, and in her younger days bowling and pool.
Debbie is survived by her children, Tammy Lamartz and Gregory McPhail; step children, Shawn (Bobbie) Manns, Nick Manns, Jerry (Icellee) Manns, Janelle Commisso, Samantha Eldridge and Alicia Spencer; 21 grandchildren; two great grandchildren; siblings, Ron (Pearl) McKellar, Nellie (Chuck) Tveter, Robert (Sharon) Yens, Lora McKellar; and Mike (Karen) Yens.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Manns in 2018; parents; brothers, Casper Yens, Bill (Dixie) McKellar and Gary McKellar; great grandchild, Taytum Manns; and nephew, Ryan Yens.

Kathy Kay TerBush (Klinesmith), of La Crosse, WI, went to heaven on March 17, 2024, surrounded by her loved ones.
She was born in Caro, MI, on October 6, 1953, to Edward and Beverly Klinesmith. Kathy graduated from Mayville High School class of 1971. Her most honored accomplishment was her role as a mother, sister, aunt, and grandmother.
Kathy was a vibrant soul whose passion for creativity and nurturing touched the lives of all who knew her. A talented crocheter, her intricate designs adorned the homes of family and friends, serving as lasting reminders of her skill and generosity. In the kitchen, she effortlessly transformed ingredients into culinary delights, her recipes a testament to her love for cooking and bringing people together. Among her most cherished pastimes was tending to her garden, where she cultivated vibrant blooms and lush greenery, finding solace and joy in nature’s beauty. Additionally, her canvas was a reflection of her artistic spirit, as she painted scenes of tranquility and imagination, capturing the essence of her vibrant personality. Kathy leaves behind a legacy of warmth, creativity, and love that will continue to inspire those fortunate enough to have known her.

Patricia Marie Ware, age 71, of Fostoria passed away on Friday March 29, 2024, at her home with her family by her side.
Patricia was born on June 12, 1952 to John Plain and the late Berniece (Gorde) Vollmar. She was born and raised in Mayville, MI. On April 28, 1974 she married Dennis Ware. They were blessed with 3 strong daughters and 7 energetic grandchildren who adored her and her goofiness. Patricia is best known as the “Cake Lady”. As her daughters grew up, she found a passion in decorating cakes. She competed in cake decorating competitions and later became a member of local and national cake clubs. Patricia made homemaking look effortless with homecooked meals and baked goods. Her summers were spent tending to her large vegetable garden. Patricia spent countless hours canning and freezing her garden vegetables. She had a love for reading, often having a hard time deciding which book to read next.
Patricia is survived by her husband of 50 years, Dennis; her daughters, Andrea (Jon) Spengler, Kimberly (Brian) Lloyd, and Crystal (Eric) Fuller; her grandchildren Matthew, Gwen, Keegan, Kyle, Caleb, and Ella; and many siblings, nieces, and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her mother Berniece and granddaughter Emma.

Leora Mildred Phelps, age 93, of Mayville MI passed away on Wednesday, March 13, 2024 at her home with her family by her side.
She was born January 2, 1931 in Mayville to the late Edward and Lois (Kitchen) Uhl. Leora was the Valedictorian of Mayville High School’s graduating Class of 1948. She married J. W. Phelps on March 19, 1949 at Mills Memorial Baptist Church in Mayville. Leora attended Mills Memorial Baptist Church her whole life. She was the smartest woman and loved to learn. Leora continued learning until she got dementia. She also enjoyed sewing, crocheting and quilting. Leora loved spending time with her family and grandchildren.
Leora is survived by her children, Maurice Phelps, Linda (Randy) Jenkins, Patricia (Mark) Senn, Kevin (Vicky) Phelps, Michael (Myrna) Phelps, Dennis (Roxanne) Phelps and Stephen (Michelle) Phelps; 42 grandchildren; many great, great-great and great-great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, J.W. Phelps in 2011; daughters, Gayle Shaffor in 2016 and Connie Cuthbertson in 1984; 3 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; brothers, Clayton and Edgar Uhl; and sister, Francis Wilson.

Debra “Deb” A. Lienhart of Jackson, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, March 9, 2024 at the age of 60. She will always be cherished by her beloved husband, Larry Lienhart; daughter, Alison (Duncan) Lienhart; mother, Ilene Harmon; brother, Nick Harmon; as well as nieces, nephews, many loving family members and best friends. She was preceded in death by her infant son, Lawrence Lienhart Jr; father, Jackie A. Harmon; mother and father-in-law, Harold and Anna Lienhart. Deb was born in Marlette, Michigan on October 17, 1963 and graduated from Mayville High School in 1981. She continued her education at Jackson Community College and Central Michigan University and received an Associates Degree in radio broadcast. Deb had a way of connecting with everyone. She was a great friend and was considered a family member to many. She enjoyed working with the public and was employed at Meijer for over 30 years. Deb loved to have a good time with friends and family. She will always be carried with us when we are on a Jeep trip, camping, road trips, or checking out a craft show. She was always willing to help others when she was able to. Even after her passing, she provided the gift of life by being an organ donor. George William Johnson, 84, formerly of Grayling and Lapeer, passed away on March 2, 2024. George was born on October 24, 1939, in Fostoria, MI, the son of Victor and Nora (Kennedy) Johnson. George graduated from Mayville High School. He proudly served in the United States Army. George married Christine Chickonoski in Lapeer on February 11, 1972. George owned and operated George and Vic’s Towing in Lapeer for many years. He later drove for Crawford County Transportation. He loved the outdoors, duck hunting, fishing, and riding around the side roads enjoying the scenery.
George is survived by his children, Darryl (Debi) Johnson, Kay (Robert) Marsman, Sara Johnson, grandchildren, Noah, Kaiden, Caleb, Tim, Grace, Brendan, sister, Norma Thomas, nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife Christine, his parents, brother Victor Johnson, and sister Myrtle Ellis.
A family gathering will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2024, 10:00 A.M.-11:00 A.M. at SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11:00 A.M. Rev. George “Rex” Stout, age 87, a long time Mayville resident, passed away on Sunday, February 25, 2024 at his home with his family by his side.
He was born May 24, 1936 in Mayville, MI to the last Morton and Geraldine (Rice) Stout. Rex was a graduate of Mayville High School with the Class of 1955. He married Lillian Wnuk on October 26, 1957 at St. Michael Catholic Church. Rex retired from GM Truck and Bus. He was a member of the Mayville Eagles # 4099. He enjoyed playing ball, hunting and fishing.
Rex is survived by his children, Ronald (Bonnie) Stout, Rohnda-Stout-Early (Terry) and Timothy Stout; brothers, Gerald Stout, Douglas (Mary Jo) Stout and Brian Stout; grandchildren, David, Jennifer and Janetta Stout, Ryan and Rachael Luther, and Clare Stout; and great grandchildren, Dominic, Reid and Anastasia Luther.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lillian in 2013; brothers, Thomas and

Lyle Stout, age 82, of Mayville, Michigan died Saturday, February 10, 2024 at Christensen Care in Marlette, MI. Lyle Hubert Stout was born April 10, 1941 in Caro, MI. He is the son of the late Hubert and the late Gladys (Miller) Stout. Lyle grew up and lived most of his life in Mayville, MI. He is a graduate of Mayville High School, Class of 1959. Lyle was very athletic in high school, playing baseball and running track. He held track records for years. He married Janet Warner on July 26, 1984 in South Carolina.
He was employed as a Maintenance worker and Mechanic by Oakdale Center in Lapeer, MI for 31 years before retiring.
Lyle was an avid sportsman, enjoying hunting and fishing. He also played baseball and almost played pro-ball.
He enjoyed helping kids and managed Little League for years.
Lyle is survived by: his wife, Janet Stout of Mayville, MI; daughter, Diane Woolner of Mayville, MI; his sons, Craig (Kerri) Stout of Lapeer, MI and Mark Stout of Lapeer, MI; and his sister, Patricia Hilgendorf. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Jacob, Rocky, Logan, Nathan and Cameron; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by: and parents, Hubert & Gladys Stout; grandson, Joshua; and his sister, Nancy.

Myrna Jean McVay, 82, of Mayville passed away Friday, February 16, 2024.
Myrna was born April 5, 1941 in Dearborn, Michigan to the late Edwin and Ruth (Jacot) Duncan. She attended Mayville High School graduating with the Class of 1959. Myrna joined the United States Navy in 1959 where she met her husband. They were married on February 17, 1962 and he preceded her in death on August 20, 2021. She worked for the Michigan Department of Community Health, retiring in 1991. Myrna attended the Mayville Methodist Church for many years. She enjoyed going to the movies, cross-stitching, and gardening. When he husband was alive they loved to travel. Spending time with her grand-kids was her favorite pastime.
Myrna is survived by her sons, Timothy (Manuela) McVay, Michael (Ingrid) McVay and Thomas (Anna) McVay; grandchildren, Michelle, Ian, Megan, Morgan, Kelsey, Kendra, Dustin, Aurora, Elizabeth and Olivia; twelve great grandchildren; and brother, Patrick.
Myrna was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; son, James McVay; and brother, Thomas Duncan.
Myrna will be laid to rest with her husband in the Great Lakes National Cemetery at a later time.

Ann Lee Reimann age 89, of Kingston, passed away January 19, 2024. Ann was born on September 17, 1934, in Mayville, the daughter of Clare and Wilma McNinch. She graduated from Mayville High School in 1953, achieving high honors. Later in 1953, she married her high school sweetheart Robert Reimann and raised two daughters, Sheila (Shelly) and Shawn. She worked for Kingston High School and worked many years for the Tuscola County Court House. Her husband, Robert preceded her in death in 1991 along with her daughter, Shawn in 2009; brother, Richard McNinch; and two grandchildren, Chelsea and Kali Gonzalez. Ann and her family were members of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Wilmot, Michigan. She enjoyed sewing and knitting. She especially loved fishing and camping with her husband and grandchildren in Caseville. Another hobby that she enjoyed, was collecting stamps and coins. She is survived by her daughter, Sheila (James) Froede of Deford; and their children Michelle (Mike) McLean, Jaime (Danny) Hatcher, James Jr. (Sherry) Froede; her deceased daughter, Shawn's children, Kristine (Frank) Shuler and Eddie Maczka; along with five great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Ann will be cremated. The burial service will be at St. Michael's Cemetery in Wilmot in the spring. She will be buried next to her husband, Robert Reimann.
Jerry Dale Finch, 80, of ClydeTownship, formerly of Fostoria, Lapeer and Davison, Michigan passed away on January 19th, 2024 at McLaren Hospital in Mt. Clemens, Michigan. A celebration of life service will be held on June 15th, at 11am at Central Church of the Nazarene, 1205 W. Bristol Road, Flint, MI 48507.
Jerry was born on March 17th, 1943, the son of Lloyd and Mabel (Ward) Finch. He grew up in Fostoria, MI and graduated from Mayville High School in 1961. Jerry worked for General Motors starting in the foundry at Pontiac Motors. He eventually became a millwright and retired from the Lake Orion Plant after over 40 years with GM. Jerry enjoyed
camping and traveling, bowling, golfing, snowmobiling, canning, woodworking, and doing home projects for himself and others.
Surviving are his wife Gloria, his son Scott (Kathy) Finch, his daughter Bridgette (Roger) Ulrich; grandchildren Jessica (Jeremiah) Jarvis and Atticus Ulrich; his sister Jane Christy; along with several nieces and nephews.
Randy Warren, 72, of Fostoria, MI and N Fort Myers, FL passed away with his family by his side on Saturday, February 3, 2024.
Randy was born June 24, 1951 in Flint, MI to Robert and Clara Warren. He graduated Mayville High School with the Class of 1969 and worked as a quality representative for the Ford Motor Company. Randy was a Free Mason at the Mayville and Caro Lodges and was also a Shriner for many years. He loved fishing, hunting, traveling to Florida, camping, and riding his motorcycle. He was also ordained. Randy was a man who chased the sun. He loved his grandchildren and could make a friend anywhere.
Randy is survived by his children, Jennifer (Ronald) Trombley of Brown City, Tammie (Russell) Coutcher of Mayville, Jeremy (Pamela) Warren of Lapeer and Terri Warren (Chet Marlow) of Mayville; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; the mother of his children, Marie Warren; his sisters, Barbara (Gino) Stalvey and Sally (Dave) Buhler; and his brothers, John (Kelly) Warren and Tom Warren.
Randy was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Clara Warren; and his grandson, Brock Mueller.
Cremation has taken place with a memorial service at a later date.

Lois “Chrystal” Guinn, age 83, of Mayville passed away on Sunday, January 28, 2024 at her home.
She was born September 9, 1940 in Flint, MI to the late Austin and Maudie (Doane) Lay. Chrystal married Charles “Bud” Guinn on June 22, 1959. He preceded her in death in 2015. She was a loving and devoted wife to her husband. Chrystal attended Mills Memorial Baptist Church and worked for Child Evangalizm Good News Club at Mayville Schools for over 20 years. She enjoyed helping others as much as she could. Chrystal enjoyed cooking, working in her flower beds, fishing with the family, being outside and loved spending time with her family and neighbors.
Chrystal is survived by her children, Tobin (Kathy) Guinn, Jeff (Dawn) Guinn and Kristie (Anson) Swadling; grandchildren, Amanda Guinn, Anthony (Kaitlyn) Guinn, Andrew (Jessica) Guinn, Amy (Christian) Marsh, Sherry Luana, Molly (Tim) Purdy, Kellen (Alyssa) Guinn, Holden Guinn, Chelsea (Tim) Stevens, and Austin, Caleb and Wyatt Swadling; great grandchildren, Brennen Driscall, Mikayela Parker, Caleb Guinn, Calvin and Grace Stevens, Emma and Owen Guinn, Waylon Guinn, Xander Marsh, Kensley Marsh, Jade Rockwell and Ben and Rylee Purdy.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Charles “Bud” Guinn, and siblings, Irene Hankey and Charles Lay.
The family will receive visitors from 2-8 PM on Thursday, February 1, 2024 at Avram Funeral Home and from 10-11 AM on Friday, February 2, 2024 at Mills Memorial Baptist Church.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11 AM on Friday, February 2, 2024 at Mills Memorial Baptist Church with Pastor Jeremy Wallace officiating.
Burial will follow in North Grove Cemetery.

Brian Daniel TerBush of Westfield, Indiana, formerly of Mayville, passed away suddenly January 14, 2024 at home. He was 48.
Brian was born on February 17, 1975 in Saginaw the son of Terry and Pam TerBush. He graduated from Mayville High School with the Class of 1993 and received a bachelor's of science degree from the University of Michigan in 1997. He went on to earn a master's in computer science, also from the University of Michigan. Brian had a long and successful career in Computer Science Management.
He was a wonderful artist, often experimenting with photography, loved astrophysics, and all forms of music. Brian was a loving father, and enjoyed spending free time with his wife and daughter as well as his parents, brother, and extended family.
Brian is survived by his wife, Joy; daughter Abigail; parents Pam and Terry; brother Jeremy; sister-in-law Margaret; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Nancy Lee Topham of Caro, age 74, passed away on Saturday, January 20, 2024 at Fisher Senior Care & Rehab with her family by her side. Nancy was born March 29, 1949, the only daughter of the late Joseph and Leona (Ihrke) McSkulin. She was born and raised in Mayville and graduated from Mayville High School. While at a fair in Vassar, Nancy happened to meet Richard A. Topham. They dated, fell in love, and were united in marriage on August 12, 1966, at the Reese Methodist Church. Their marriage was blessed with 57 years, three daughters, and countless wonderful memories. Nancy was a very caring and loving mother, daughter, wife, grandma, great-grandma, friend, and caregiver to the many little ones she raised and welcomed into her home and family. In addition to running a daycare, she also sold Avon for a number of years. Nancy loved sitting on the swing, baking cookies, and spending time with family and friends. She was always willing to help anyone she could and remained a fighter until the very end. A true mother hen to everyone, Nancy’s calm, kind, and loving soul will be missed dearly by all who knew her.
Nancy leaves to cherish her memory her loving husband, Richard; daughters, Valerie Topham (Russell Bussey), Mindy (Scott) Kelley, and Stacy (Rodney) Smith; grandchildren, Kayla, Carly, Dakota, Ashlynn, Nevaeh, and Victoria; great-grandchildren, Quintin, Sophia, Elleona, Chevy, Lydia, Novalee, Dillin, Paisley, Adam, Izzak, and coming soon, Elijah; and many special friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, January 26, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro. Richard L. Smith, 91 of Surprise, Arizona passed away on November 12, 2023.
Richard was born in December 3, 1931 to Lester and Mary Elizabeth Chamberlain Smith. He graduated from Mayville High School with the Class of 1949.
Richard is survived by his wife Diane. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Roger.
Burial was in the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona.
