Timothy (Tim) LeRoy Shaver, 70, of Silverwood passed away on August 18, 2026 at McLaren/Flint Hospital. Tim was born on November 15, 1955 in Cass City, the son of Frank and Eugenia (Wojtalik) Shaver. Tim grew up in the thumb area and was a graduate of Mayville High School. On October 6, 1979, he married Pamela Jamison at the Fostoria Baptist Church. Tim was a crop/dairy farmer. He also was a volunteer of the Nort Branch Fire Department for over 25 years.

Tim enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, traveling, showing jersey cows at the fair, and attending tractor and truck pulls. Most of all, Tim loved the time spent with his grandchildren and attending their sporting events.

Tim is survived by is wife, Pam, children, Rachel (Skip) Collins, TJ (Misty) Shaver, grandchildren, Kane, Kody and Karson, brothers, Randy (Julie), Cliff (Nancy), Dennis (Janice), Roger and Barry, many nieces, nephews and the Jamison family. He is also survived by his fur baby, Annie.  He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Daniel and his in-laws, Jerry and Sue Jamison.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the North Branch Fire Department.

The family will be present for visitation on Friday, August 21, 2026, 3:00 P.M.-8:00 P.M. at Blackburn Chapel-Martin Funeral Home. On Saturday, August 22, 2026, visitation will be10:00  A.M.-11:00 A.M.  at Blackburn Chapel-Martin Funeral Home with funeral service to follow at  11:00 A.M. Pastor David Yelland will officiate. Tim will be laid to rest at Rich Township Cemetery.

 An avid hunter and outdoorsman, Kenton Henry Colling, who was just short of 91 years old, was unexpectedly called to the great hunting ground in the sky on August 4, 2026. Ken leaving this world is particularly surprising to his family as he had, for the first time in years, been granted a bear permit and was “too busy” preparing for his hunting trip with nephew Curt Dickson to have taken the time to pass away.

Born September 15, 1935, Ken grew up on the family farm in Watertown Township, Michigan. After graduating from Mayville High School, he earned a degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Michigan where he was a member of Tau Beta Pi, an engineering honor society.

Although he thought it was hilarious to deliberately misuse words like subscription for prescription, draw for drawer, and warsh for wash, Ken was a strong proponent of education.

As a 6th generation Mason, Ken was a 32nd degree member of the Mt. Moriah Masonic Lodge #226. Each year he devoted countless hours to the administration of their scholarship program and got immense joy from presenting scholarships to recent high school graduates who were continuing their studies. He was also a member of the Valley of Bay City Scottish Rite, joining partly due to their work with children that struggle with dyslexia.

After college Ken had a successful career working for several large corporations, was granted patents and was promoted to head of Engineering. Being firmly patriotic, the overwhelming pride in his voice was evident when his security clearances finally ended and he was able to speak openly about his work on Minuteman and Tomahawk missiles, and an upgrade to the B-52 bombers.

Ken’s love of nature, hunting, fishing and trapping is evident in the home he designed and built which is surrounded by fields of wildflowers and ponds teaming with wildlife. A talented artist, Ken’s paintings adorn the walls with his favorite subject matter: animals and outdoor scenes.

The various mounts hanging in his home often launch Ken into very long, very detailed stories about the hunt. A recent favorite was a tale of a hard-fought battle of wits with a beaver that was determined to drop a tree directly onto Ken’s power lines. Much to his chagrin, the beaver continued to evade Ken’s trap lines for months. The pelt that now hangs on the living room wall shows the ultimate victor in The Great Beaver War of 2025.

The several long term loves in Ken’s life include his wife of over 70 years, June, his devotion to wearing flannel shirts (even in the summer), a bowl of Cheerios covered in honey for breakfast (although he was never known to pass up 2nd breakfast, especially when bacon was on the menu), bee keeping, gardening (Are 100 tomato plants enough?) and the search for the answer to the nagging question, “What did you guys do with my _____?” (We knew better than to touch his stuff!)

Another great love was Michigan’s Upper Peninsula (where Ken and June raised their children), specifically the Mosquito Club (deer camp). From what Ken’s family can tell, deer camp was filled with cooking on the old wood stove, eating, 4-wheeler rides, rigging up a makeshift shower, visitors from other camps, BS-ing, beer & B-52’s, and endless stories (many of which contained questionable facts). When there was time left over, a few of the guys would even hunt.

Ken will be greatly missed by all who knew him and his family will forever be at a loss without him to remind us “Should’a been on the road an hour ago!”

Ken was preceded in death by his parents Edgar & Leota (nee McMahon), brothers Duane and Ronald Colling, and grandsons Justin Saunders and Cody Sheridan.

He is survived by his wife June (nee Gangler), children: Krystal (Dwain) Rayl, Karen (Patrick) Sheridan, Sheryl Jayson, Timothy (Trisha) Colling and, brother Dalton (Barbara) Colling.

Ken also leaves behind grandchildren and great-grandchildren, each of whom he has, at one time or another, lovingly declared to be his favorite. They are: Michelle (James) Miller & great-grandchildren Oliva and Trent Miller, Maureen (Britany) Salter-Sheridan, Connor Colling (Sasha Rios), Jacob (Rachael) Colling, and Morgan Colling (Ari Van Oosterwijk), Lucas (Heather) Sheridan & family, and the family of Cody Sheridan.

Extended family include several brothers and sisters-in-laws, and numerous nieces and nephews, and his Mosquito Club family, each of whom held a special place in Ken’s heart.

Kenton's funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 10, 2026, at Ransford Funeral Home in Caro. The family will receive visitors on Sunday, August 9, from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Visitation will continue on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the 11:00 a.m. funeral service. Rev. Jim Butler will officiate. A luncheon will follow the service, with burial afterward at Watertown Township Cemetery.

Martin L. McSkulin Sr, 64, of Kingston, passed away Thursday, August 6, 2026 in United Hospice Residence of Aspire Marlette, surrounded by his loved ones, following a brief but brave battle with cancer. He was born October 11, 1961 to Martin G. and Delta D. (Harley) McSkulin. On July 31, 1982 Marty married the love of his life, Jamie VanParis. They were blessed with two beautiful children.

Marty graduated from Mayville High School in 1981. He enjoyed deer hunting. Marty also loved watching University of Michigan and Detroit Lions football games, along with Detroit Tigers baseball games on television.

Marty is survived by his wife of forty-four years, Jamie of Kingston; daughter, Jessica (Robert) Jurvelin-Zyrowski of Montrose; brother, Joseph (Kris) McSkulin of Clifford; sister, Debra (Don) Kipper of Lansing; in-laws: June Burge, Natalie (Randy) Heck, Pat (Allison) VanParis, Brenda Heidger, Nancy (Bryon Shipman) Czelusniak; several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his son, Marty McSkulin II; his parents; brother, Robert McSkulin; brother-in-law, Ed Czelusniak; in-laws: Jim and Judy VanParis.

The family would like to thank United Hospice Residence of Aspire Marlette, Dr. Benjamin Huber, Dr. David Forner, and First State Home Healthcare for all of their support during Marty’s brave battle.

John Alan Morodan, age 81, of Mayville, MI passed away on Thursday, August 6, 2026 at United Hospice of Aspire surrounded by his family.

John was born on November 10, 1944 in Detroit, Michigan to the late John and Elizabeth (Vant) Morodan. He attended Mayville High School, graduating with the Class of 1962. John married Linda McKellar on July 17, 1965. He started working in 1965 as an apprentice machine repairman at Ford and soon moved to Saginaw Steering Gear where he retired in 1999. John was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Mayville and was an alter boy when he was young. He worked tirelessly as a fireman, ambulance volunteer, Tuscola County Dive Rescue Team, hospice and other volunteer programs. John helped as many people as he could. After retirement he kept busy driving a propane truck, bus driving and even drove a tour bus. He took a wood-working class at Delta College and made several pieces of professional grade furniture. He and Linda built two houses from the ground up. John and Linda loved to travel. They went to Alaska and California on a Goldwing, eventually putting 70,000 miles on it. Together they traveled all over Europe. John enjoyed motorcycles trips and going on cruises. 

He is survived by his wife, Linda: children, John Roger Morodan, Angela Marie (Mark Clarkson, Margaret Anne (Nick) Long, Christopher Alan (Nicole) Morodan; grandchildren, Kassandra (Mike), Arieall (Dustin), Mark (Allysia), Alyssa (Brandon), Shawntell, Aaron (Rachel), Nicholas, Shane (Haley), and Seth; great-grandchildren, Jasmyne, Harlyn, Henry, Patrick, Holston, Aubrie, Sawyer, Emberlee, Lucy, Issabell and 3 more on the way; in -laws, Robert (Linda) McKellar, Michael McKellar, and David (Leah) McKellar; several nieces and nephews.

John was preceded in death by his parents; in-laws; and sisters, Elizabeth Ann Edds and Cynthia Baxter.

The family will receive visitors from 10-11 AM on Monday, August 17, 2026 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Mayville, Michigan.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 11 AM on Monday, August 17, 2026 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Mayville, MI.

Burial will follow at Rich Township Cemetery.

Thomas “Tom” Wilbur Sugden, age 74, of Mayville, MI passed away on Friday, July 31, 2026.

He was born on September 12, 1951, in Caro, MI, to Elmer and Pauline (Gilmore) Sugden. Tom graduated from Mayville High School with the Class of 1969. On May 3, 1975, he married the love of his life, Karen Cramer, in Fostoria, MI.

Tom was a faithful member of Hope Church in Marlette and the Caro Moose Lodge #1049. He found joy in life's simple pleasures, including reading and faithfully writing in his diary each day. Tom loved spending quiet moments relaxing on his deck, looking out across the fields, and took great pride in caring for his lawn while riding his beloved John Deere tractor. Above all, Tom cherished his family. Whether sharing time together, making memories, or simply enjoying each other's company, his greatest happiness came from being with those he loved.

Tom is survived by his wife of 51 years, Karen Sugden; son, Richard (Michelle) Sugden; daughter, Jennifer (Daniel) Decker; grandchildren, Kendra, Emiley, William, Karlee, Kersten and Nicole; great grandchildren, Bryce, Thomas, Sophia, Aliyah, Reagan, Rowan, David, Angelina, Elijah, and Emmett; siblings, Marie Allen and Douglas (Melissa) Sugden; and mother in law, Ethel Cramer.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Pauline Sugden; father in law, Ralph Cramer; and brothers in law, Darold Allen and Larry Cramer.

Family will receive visitors from 2-8 PM on Wednesday, August 5, 2026 at Avram Funeral Home, Mayville and 10-11 AM on Thursday, August 6, 2026 at Hope Church, 3021 Main St. Marlette.

William “Bill” R. Marlow, age 73, of Mayville, passed away on Wednesday, July 15, 2026 at his home with his family by his side.

Bill was born on June 20, 1953, in Caro, Michigan, to the late Lavern and Marion (Werner) Marlow. He graduated from Mayville High School with the Class of 1972. Bill was a jokester who enjoyed life. He worked many different jobs during his life including working for the railroad, in construction and later as a concrete finisher. He enjoyed golfing, hunting and playing baseball. Bill spent many hours at the Grove and the Fostoria ball field. He was a proud member of the Mayville Eagles. Most of all, Bill loved spending time with his family and friends. 

Bill is survived by his brother, Tom (Sue) Marlow; brother-in-law, Sam Fackler; nieces, Melissa (Russ) Burton and Mindy Jansen; great nieces and nephews, Tyler Begg, Rylee Begg, Elise Begg, Madelyn Jansen, and Cole Jansen; best friend, Lisa Werner; aunt, Nellie Werner; several cousins; and all of his many friends from the Mayville area.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lavern and Marion Marlow; and sister, Linda Fackler.

Following his wishes, cremation has taken place.

Lloyd James Asmus, age 89 of Caro, formerly of Mayville passed away on Saturday, July 11, 2026 at McLaren Lapeer Region.

Lloyd was born on March 18, 1937, in Mayville, Michigan, to Charles Sr. and Jessie (Cartwright) Asmus. He graduated from Mayville High School with the Class of 1955. In June 1959, Lloyd married Daphne Justice. They shared 27 years of marriage until her passing in 1986. Lloyd was the first employee hired at Mayville Molding, where he worked as a tool and die maker until his retirement. He was a member of Mt. Moriah Masonic Lodge No. 226 in Caro, Temple Beth Israel in Bay City, and was formerly a member of Mayville Masonic Lodge No. 394. Lloyd made his home on the golf course, where he enjoyed the peaceful surroundings. He especially loved spending time on his hobby farm, as well as hunting small game and fishing.

Lloyd is survived by his children, Phil (Judy) Asmus and Paul (Cammie) Asmus; grandchildren, Brad Asmus, Ward (Jenna) Asmus and Reece Asmus; and 2 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Daphne Asmus; son, Jeffrey Asmus; infant daughter; and brother, Charles Asmus Jr.

The family will receive visitors from 11 AM- 2:30 PM on Wednesday, July 15, 2026 at Avram Funeral Home.

 Arthur "Mike" Michael Putnam, Jr. of Harbor Beach, formerly of Deford, age 61, passed away unexpectedly at his daughter's home on Monday, July 6, 2026. He was born in Caro on January 22, 1965, the son of the late Arthur and Janet (Jacob) Putnam. Mike graduated from Mayville High School with the class of 1984. Following high school he enlisted in the U.S. Army and proudly served his country for nearly three years.

Mike worked at different factories over the years, including Rochester Gear Inc. in Clifford. He was known for his love of watching NASCAR, was always up for a round of golf, and enjoyed kayaking and fishing. Mike had a kind heart and you could always rely on him. He could be stubborn but his energy and how social he was made up for it.

Mike leaves to cherish his memory, his children, Cody Putnam (Ashley French), Zach Putnam, and Keerey Putnam (Gage Parkinson); grandchildren, Savannah, Leland, Grace, Lincoln, and Brycen; sister, Tina (Clayton) McConnell; niece, Jenny (Kevin) Maddox; and many extended family members and friends. In addition to his parents, Mike was preceded in death by his sister, Sherry Churchill.

Marjorie Marie Raymond of Caro, age 70, passed away Wednesday, June 17, 2026 at Satchell's Christian Retirement Home in Caro. She was born February 15, 1956 in Caro, the daughter of the late Cecil and Beatrice (Hicox) Raymond. She attended Mayville High School and went on to be a nurse’s aide, where she helped countless people in her community over many years.

Marjorie was a woman of strong faith and spent many years in Florida, where she enjoyed traveling and going on cruises with her dear friend, Ken Goodrum. She was full of life and will be missed by all that knew her.

Left to cherish Marjorie’s memory are her four children, Keith (Isabell) Fritz, Renae (Christopher) Goyette, Stephanie (Nick) Schalau, and Zachary Robinson; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
