November 23rd, 1936 to April 29th, 2023
Thomas K. Andison, 86, of Marysville died April 29, 2023. He was born November 23, 1936 in Mayville, Michigan to the late Kenneth and Nellie (McKay) Andison.
Tom graduated from Mayville High School in 1955 and received undergraduate and M.B.A. degrees from the University of Michigan, Ross School of Business. He served as an officer in the U.S. Army from 1960-62. He taught business for several years at Buena Vista University in Storm Lake, Iowa and at Iowa State University. He returned to Port Huron in 1969 and spent 44 years as a stock broker, including more than 20 years managing the local A.G. Edwards office. Tom liked old things. He enjoyed his farm in Mayville. In 1986 he purchased and restored the historic Bunce farm house, built in 1866 and located on the St. Clair River in Marysville. His brilliant blue Christmas trees were a highlight of the holiday season for many years.
Mr. Andison was a life-long member of First Presbyterian Church of Port Huron, where he served faithfully as an elder, church treasurer and president of the corporation. He was interested in all things Scottish and belonged to the St. Andrews Society of Detroit. He served as a trustee of Alma College, founding the Andison Center for Teaching Excellence. He was a long-time board member of the International Symphony Orchestra and the Port Huron Museum.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Thursday, May 4, 2023 in the Marysville Funeral Home, 1200 Michigan Avenue, Marysville.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 5, 2023 in First Presbyterian Church, 811 Wall Street, Port Huron. Dr. Ronald Naylor, the Reverend Jason Pittman and Dr. Roxie Davis will officiate.
Burial will follow at 2:00 p.m. in Rich Township Cemetery, Mayville.
Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider First Presbyterian Church, the International Symphony Orchestra or Alma College - Andison Scholarship Fund. The wearin’ o’ the tartan and the kilt is encouraged.

April 17, 1958 - April 27, 2023
Scott David Fox, age 65, passed away on Thursday, April 27, 2023 at his home.
He was born April 17, 1958 in Cass City, MI to the late Doug and Sharron (Blinke) Fox.
Scott was a graduate of Mayville High School with the Class of 1976. He married Vicky Tait on July 9, 1977. Scott started Quality Communications of Michigan LLC in 1989. He took great care of his workers and customers. Scott enjoyed spending time at the cabin, checking the weather in Kentucky, taking care of his lawn and grooming the many trails on his property. He loved being around his family, especially spending time with his grand kids, nieces and nephews. Scott had a one of a kind sense of humor and an irreplaceable presence. Scott was a 30 year member of Mayville Eagles Post # 4099. He enjoyed playing his guitar and listening to Classic Music.
Scott is survived by his wife of 45 years, Vicky; daughters, Terah (Jack) Parker and Julie Loucks; grandchildren, Brandon, Ashtin, Nicholas and Aiden Steele and Lily, Jack, Myles, Leo, Etta and Winn Parker; great grandchildren, Dorothy and one on the way; siblings, Eric (Pam) Fox, Kevin (Mary) Fox and Matt (Kim) Fox; in-laws, Scott Tait, Colin (Patty) Tait, Pamela Marshall and Lesa Tait-Coalson; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Megan in 2018; son, Shane in 2022; and an infant brother, Jerome.
The family will receive visitors from 9:30-10:30 AM on Tuesday, May 2, 2023 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Mayville with a Memorial Mass held at 10:30 AM.

August 16, 1942 - April 10, 2023
Robert “Bob” Garner, age 80, of Silverwood, MI passed away on Monday, April 10, 2023 at the United Hospices Services of Marlette Regional Hospital.
He was born August 16, 1942 in Saginaw, MI to the late James and Ouina (Chaffee) Garner. Bob was a graduate of Mayville High School with the Class of 1961. He served in the United States National Guard. Bob married Georgiana Pickens on October 29, 1966 at Dayton Center Church in Silverwood, MI. He worked over 38 years for Buick in Flint, MI and was a member of the Buick UAW Local #599. Bob was a member of Mills Memorial Baptist Church in Mayville and served several years as a board member. He was part of the bluegrass band, Silverwood Bottom Boys and a member of Michigan’s Bluegrass Music Association in Flint, MI. Bob enjoyed garage sales, antiquing, playing the mandolin, and picking on the front porch of the cabin with friends and family.
Bob is survived by his wife, Georgiana of 56 years; daughter, Hollie (Daniel) Boughan; son, Moses (Jenny) Garner; grandchildren, Brooklin, Megan and Julia Boughan, Katelynn (Zackary) Walker and Zachary Garner; brother, Dale (Beth) Garner; sister, Sheryl Ann (Garner) Miller; several nieces and nephews; brothers-in-law, Rollo (Janice) Pickens, Donald (Robin) Pickens and Bob LaRose.
He was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Jeffery Pickens; and sister-in-law, Sylvia LaRose.
The family will receive visitors from 2-8 PM on Thursday, April 13, 2023 at Avram Funeral Home, and 10-11 AM on Friday, April 14, 2023 at Mills Memorial Baptist Church.
Michael “Mike” Edward Long, age 73 of Vassar, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 1, 2023, and joined his wife Sue in heaven.
Mike was born on December 11, 1949 to Dick and Della (Steele) Long in Cass City, Michigan. After graduating from Mayville High School in 1968, one of his first jobs was at Hess Brothers & Schell Gas Station in Vassar. Mike was also an EMT and an EMT instructor for several years in Vassar. Mike worked for 36 years at Eaton/Grede Foundry in Vassar.
In 1972 he met Sue Bertelsmeyer, and they wed on January 6, 1973, going on to have two daughters, Jennifer and Becky.
After retiring in 2008, Mike enjoyed spending his time landscaping and caring for his yard, taking adventures throughout Michigan, and especially attending the antique tractor parade in Mackinaw City with his family. Mike was also a big support of the Vassar Vulcans. He and his daughter Becky attended almost all of the home games.
Mike is survived by his daughters, Jennifer and Becky; his siblings, Jim (Vickie) Long, LaVon & Martha Long, Barb Hahn, and Dawn & Mike Wyman; in-laws, Scott & Robin Bertelsmeyer and Shannon Rose; several nieces and nephews; and special neighbors, Tim & Veronica Childs, and Gary & Gail Asperger. Mike was predeceased by his wife Sue; his parents; and in-laws, Sherry Nabering, Wally Hahn, and Judy Long.

LaRose, Sylvia Vireth - Age 81, of Levering, Michigan, died March 14, 2023. Service will be held 1 PM Friday, March 24, 2023 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road Swartz Creek. Sylvia was born March 15, 1941 in Monroe, the daughter of Rollo Eugene and Virginia (Alda) Pickens. She worked as a licensed Beautician and Massage Therapist. Sylvia loved her home day care that she had in the 80's and early 90's. She loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Sylvia was very interested in homeopathy and astrology. She is survived by her husband of over 60 years, Robert "Bob"; daughter, Sunee Parker; son, Wayne LaRose; brother, Rollo (Janice) Pickens; sister, Georgiana (Robert) Garne; brother, Donald (Robin) Pickens; many nieces and nephews. Lois Mae Walker, age 89, of Silverwood passed away on Tuesday, March 28, 2023 at Fisher Senior Care and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born on July 29, 1933 in Silverwood, MI to Harold and Edna (Cowles) Westover. Lois graduated from Mayville High School with the class of 1950. She married Fay “Bud” Walker on October 14, 1950 in Silverwood, MI. Lois was a member of the Eagles 4099 Auxiliary as well as Post 181 Ladies Auxiliary. She loved going to her grandchildrens ball games, playing pinochle with Glen and Gail. Lois loved being a homemaker and being home.
Lois is survived by her husband Bud; Four children, Thomas, Floyd (Deborah), Patricia (Rick) Pyles of Mayville and Larry (Joan) of Beaverton; 15 grandchildren, Tommy, Ronda, Arica, Billy, Ricky, Ryan, Brad, Rynae, Todd, Angie, Andy, Ashley, Rachel, Dustin and Mandy; 30 great grandchildren and one great great grandson.
She was preceded in death by her parents; infant child, Sandra; one sister, Harriet O’Brien; and brother in law, Ray O’Brien.
Visitation will be from 11 AM to 1 PM on Saturday, April 15, 2023 at Avram Funeral Home.
October 17, 1983 - March 24, 2023
Loving father, son and brother, Christopher “Chris” Alan Mocniak, age 39, of Lapeer passed away Friday, March 24, 2023 at McLaren Lapeer Region Hospital.
Chris was born October 17, 1983 in Lapeer, MI to Mike and Sherry (Malkowski) Mocniak. He grew up on the farm and had a fond interest in machinery and tractors. He loved animals, especially the family dogs. Chris graduated from Mayville High School with the Class of 2002. He worked in golf course grounds maintenance his entire adult life. Chris loved the sport and was an avid golfer himself. Along with playing on the High School Golf Team, Chris would go on to coach the Mayville Golf Team and participated in assisting the Flint Junior Golf Program. Along with golf, Chris also enjoyed watching the Detroit Lions, Detroit Tigers and Ohio State Buckeyes.
Chris was a devoted father to his children Colton and Ashlyn. He loved them dearly. Chris was a kind, gentle and generous man. He often gave blood and, as a final act of generosity, was an organ and tissue donor. Chris had a comedic heart who connected with people through jokes and movie lines. His smile was infectious and endearing. Chris will be greatly missed.
Chris is survived by his children, Colton and Ashlyn Lloyd; his parents, Mike and Sherry Mocniak; his brother, Jeffrey; his foster sister, Jenny; many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends; and his K9 friend, Kirbie.
Chris was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ted and Loretta Mocniak and Leo and Jean Malkowski.
The family will receive visitors from 10-12 Noon on Saturday, April 1, 2023 at Avram Funeral Home in Mayville, MI.
A memorial service will be held at 12 Noon on Saturday, April 1, 2023 at Avram Funeral Home.
Memorials can be made to the Family Discretionary Fund for his children, Colton and Ashlyn Lloyd in care of Sherry Mocniak.
