March 25, 1958 - March 2, 2023
Cindy Ann Blonde-Torres-Mejia, 64 of Midway, passed away Thursday March 2, 2023, with her loving family by her side. She is survived by her husband Sergio Torres. No local services are planned at this time. Cindy attended Mayville High School and graduated with the class of 1976.
Terry Dean Coutcher, age 76, went to see his Lord on March 14, 2023.
Born on April 5, 1946, in Otisville, Michigan to Charles & Esther (Simmons) Coutcher. Attending Millington schools until the 7th grade, when his family moved to Mayville. There he met & dated his future bride while at Mayville schools. He and Penny Fairfield married February 12th, 1966, celebrating their 57th year of marriage. The majority of his career was spent with GM AC Delco/Delphi where he worked for 31 years. Terry loved racing and was a Ford motor enthusiast. His talent and knowledge for car restoration is unrivaled, he never stopped looking for the next deal. Throughout his life he raced cars, snowmobiles, pulled trucks, and enjoyed attending friend's race events. Other hobbies included hunting and fishing, where he spent a great deal of time in Canada with close friends and family catching fish, shooting a bear and shot his record moose. Above all, Terry embraced and bragged often of his four grandchildren. He was their biggest fan for sporting events and academic achievements.
He is survived by his wife, Penny; daughters, Bethany (Mike) Smith of Vassar, and Barbara (Marc) Coughlin of Metamora; grandchildren: Brianna Anderson, Caleb Smith, Logan Coughlin, and Lauren Coughlin; brothers, Russell Coutcher and Michael Coutcher; sisters, Sherry Cox, Pamela Coutcher, and Lana (Dennis) Hart; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Terry is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Charles Coutcher, Larry Coutcher, and Tom Coutcher; sisters, Connie Fredericks, and Paula Cooper.
Terry's celebration of life will take place on Saturday, March 25th, 2023 at Vassar First United Methodist Church (139 N Main St, Vassar, MI 48768). Visitation will begin at 10:30 a.m. and funeral services at 12:00 p.m. Luncheon at the church will follow the service; cemetery service to be held at Millington Township Cemetery at 3:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make memorial contributions to Vassar First United Methodist Church or a charity of one's choice.

Betty Czaczkowski, age 88, of North Branch passed away on Friday, January 20, 2023.
Betty was born on January 24, 1934, the daughter of Lawrence and Harriet (Reed) Hebberd. Betty grew up in the Rich Township area. She attended Mayville schools, graduating from Mayville High School in 1951.
On May 3, 1952 Betty married John Czaczkowski at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church in North Branch, MI.
Betty was a home maker and farmers wife. She was a lifelong member of The SS Peter and Paul Altar Society; helping with funeral luncheons. She helped out and did a lot of volunteer work for United Way and the North Branch Thrift Shop/Emergency Aid. She enjoyed working in her flower and vegetable gardens. Most of all she loved her family and spending time with all her children and grand children.
Betty is survived by her children, Daniel and Sandra Czaczkowski, Marcia and David Kaltz, Angela Peplinski and Todd Bond, Teresa Soper, 9 grandchildren, 21 great grand children and 1 great great grandchild. Sister Donna (Clare) Howard, brother Ronal Hebberd, brother-in-law Karl Fike, sisters-in-laws; Vicki Hebberd and Eileen Hebberd.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband John, her son-in-law Eric Soper ,her grand daughter Jessica Kaltz her great grandson Abram Czaczkowski, her sisters; Connie DeGrow , Shirley Elonzae, Carolyn Fike and her brothers; Tom Hebberd, Chuck Hebberd and Jim Hebberd and special friend Ed Bitel.
Visitation for Betty will be Tuesday, January 24, 2023, 2:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Blackburn Chapel-Martin Funeral Home. On Wednesday, January 25, 2023, 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. with funeral service at 11:00 A.M. at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Father Rich Treml officiating. Betty will be laid to rest next to her husband at SS Peter and Paul Cemetery.

Alma Sarles, 91, of Silverwood, passed away on March 14, 2023, at her home.
She was born February 29, 1932, in Pontiac, Michigan, to the late Floyd and Edith Calkins. Alma received her Bachelor's degree in teaching and taught for the North Branch Public Schools for 36 years. Alma married Neil Sarles on February 28, 1958, and they were married for 63 years before he preceded her in death on August 8, 2021. They loved to travel in their fifth wheel to fish wherever they went. She and her sister, Betty, loved to play slot machines at the casinos. Alma loved music, playing the piano and dancing. “Shop till you drop” was created with her in mind. Alma adored her family and would do anything for them, especially the grandkids and great-grandkids. She spent her life taking care of people.
She is survived by her daughter, Mary Barrons; grandchildren, Lyndsey Barrons, Courtney (Nicholas) Cooper, Kaitlyn (Nick) Burgess and Jordyn (Jeff) Burgess; great-grandchildren, Landon Reid, Christian Cooper, Quinton Cooper, Cadance Cooper and Ever Milostan and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Alma is preceded in death by her husband, Neil; daughter, Rita (Andy) Blackwell; son-in-law, Bo Barrons; brother, Charles (Thelma) Calkins; sisters, Phylann (Lyn) Poole, Irene Robinson, Berniece (Charles) Haines and Betty (Ray) Smock.
A memorial service will be held at 1 PM on Friday, March 24, 2023 at Marsh Funeral Chapel, Marlette. The family will receive visitors from 10 AM until the time of service at the funeral home.

Bill was born on July 21, 1939, at the family farm on Center Rd., his parents were William A. Seddon & Velda Opperman. He was an only child and was taught at an early age to work and help on the family farm. By the age of 8, he was driving the John Deere. He graduated from Mayville High School with the class of 1957. He married the love of his life, Nancy Matthews, on February 26, 1988, and they had just celebrated 35 years of marriage on February 26, 2023.
Bill had four sons: Michael, Mark, Marvin, and Monty; he also had three sons-in-law and four stepdaughters: Mark & April Colosky, Rich & Lisa Hebner, Karri Bouchard, Leo & Kathy Gruzas; seven grandchildren from his daughters and three-great-grandchildren.
Bill was known as “Wild Bill” but had a heart of gold and a strong faith in God. Bill farmed all his life until he retired in 1994 due to health issues.
Bill entered heaven to be joined by his three brothers-in-law, ready to play a game of thirteen!
He was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. He brought so much joy and laughter to our family. Bill will be greatly missed but never forgotten.

Barbara Joyce Scott, age 83, of Mayville, MI passed away at Fisher Senior Care & Rehab Center.
She was born in Flint, MI on September 16, 1939 to the late Elwood and Mary (Smith) Moore. Barbara loved birds, especially hummingbirds, was a huge Obama fan, enjoyed getting together with her friends and playing card games, but most of all loved her grand kids.
Barbara is survived by her children, Rodney Buhl (Ann Westover), Frank (Brenda) Buhl; grandchildren Rodney (Carli) Buhl, Ryan (Casi) Buhl, Bobbie Sue (Jason) Sentell, Frank Buhl Jr., Justin Soper, Kandi (James) Brown, Jennifer (Michael) Worth, Tessa (Josh) Campbell, Evan (Sarah) Buhl, Jessica Buhl, Cassie Buhl, Megan Buhl and Josh Buhl; great grandchildren, Jackson Buhl, Presley Buhl, Blake Buhl, Paytn Buhl, Hunter Brown, Jace Brown, Robert Brown, Easton Brown, Skylar Sentell, Zachary Sentell, Baylee Buhl, Blair Campbell, Brynnley Campbell, Annabelle Buhl, Charlotte Buhl, and Brady Worth; sisters, Deborah Moncman, Karen Rodgers, Margo Moncman and Leslie Jo Haskin; brother, Richard Haskin; niece, Rachelle (Bill) Strasburg; and special care giver, Regan Snyder.

Janet Ann Bertrand of Caro, age 88, passed away on the morning of Saturday, February 25, 2023 at Ascension St. Mary’s with her loving family by her side. Janet was born October 2, 1934 in Tuscola County, the daughter of the late Hugh and Melissa (Walker) Marr.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 2, 2023 at St. Christopher Parish, Sacred Heart Church in Caro with Rev. Christopher Coman officiating. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery. The family will be present to receive friends at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 1, 2023 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Thursday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. A Rosary Service will be held on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to St. Christopher Parish.

John Joseph MacGregor II, 62, of Perrysburg, Ohio (formerly of Dallas, Texas) passed away on the evening of Friday, February 17th, 2023 in his home.
John was born in Bay City, Michigan on January 1st, 1961 and raised in Saginaw. John graduated from Mayville High School (Michigan) in 1979, Delta College in Bay City, and The University of Minnesota Medical School (Prosthetics Department) in White Bear Lake, Minnesota in 1982.
In 1984 John was certified by the American Board of Certification in Orthotists and Prosthetists. At only 23 years of age, he was the youngest certified member in the history by that Board. John served amputees as a prosthetist in Toledo, Ohio, St. Louis, Missouri, Paris, Texas and Dallas, Texas for over 35 years. 31 of those years were served at Hanger Clinic. John had a passion for treating patients and changed the lives of so many amputees after some of their most traumatic losses in their lives.
Throughout John’s entire life, he was active in Freemasonry. He served as the first twice Past Master of R.C. Buckner Lodge in Dallas, and a 32 Degree Knight Commander of the Court of Honor in the Dallas Scottish Rite. In the York Rite, service to our Lord, he was a Past High Priest and Past Thrice Illustrious Master of R. C. Buckner Chapter/Council. He served as a Past Commander of Alexander C. Garrett Commandery Knights Templar, and also a Shriner through Hella Shrine Temple in Garland, Texas.
John loved to share time with his three grand daughters at the pool and watched them dance in many recitals. He was well known for his goofy antics and loved making those around him laugh. John was also a member of Saint Rose Catholic Church in Perrysburg, Ohio.
John is survived by his brothers Tim (Marcy) MacGregor and Greg MacGregor; his son John Joseph (Cori) MacGregor III; and grandchildren Evelyn, Fiona, and Temperance MacGregor. John is preceded in death by his mother Carolle Marie DeLorge MacGregor and his father John Joseph MacGregor.
The family will honor his passing privately.

June 5, 1925 - February 12, 2023
Donna J. (McLane) Chapin passed away on February 12, 2023, in Superior Township (Ypsilanti), Michigan, at the age of 97.
She was born June 5, 1925, in Port Huron, Michigan, the daughter of Alvin and Pearl (Carlson) McLane. She graduated from Saginaw St. Mary’s Hospital School of Nursing and became a Registered Nurse in 1946. She served in the U.S. Cadet Nurse Corps. She was employed at Caro Community Hospital and retired from the Caro Regional Mental Health Center in 1982. She was united in marriage with James Howard Chapin September 5, 1946. He preceded her in death February 24, 1987. Donna enjoyed traveling, fishing, dancing and her grandchildren.
She is survived by a son, James P. Chapin (Julia) of Ann Arbor, a daughter Denise O’Brien (Michael) of Ypsilanti, two grandchildren Matthew O’Brien (Kimberly Kortkamp) of Leadville, Colorado, and Bridget O’Brien (Charlie Brennan) of Ann Arbor, and one great grandchild, Evan, of Ann Arbor. She is also survived by three sisters-in-law, Elma McLane Gunning, Nancy McLane, and Bernice McLane and nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Mary Behrens, and four brothers, Alvin Jr., Lloyd, Edward, and Donald McLane.
Funeral services will take place at the Mayville United Methodist Church, 601 E. Ohmer Rd., Mayville, Michigan, on Friday, February 17, 2023, at 11 am. The family will begin receiving visitors at 10 am. Burial will follow in the Rich Township Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, Trinity Health at Home, or The Salvation Army.

Marvin Everett Rich, age 90, of Silverwood went to be with his Lord on Sunday, February 12, 2023.
Marvin was born March 20, 1932 in Snover, MI to Everett and Gladys Rich. He was the second eldest of 9 children. Marvin married Phyllis Raymond on June 21, 1958, and they celebrated their love for 64 years. The couple welcomed their only son Tim L. Rich in 1967. Marvin also claimed two “honorary” sons, Dan Polin and Jeff Bailey who are special blessings to our family. He was the very best husband and father leading by example and love. Marvin proudly served in the United States Army as an M.P. during the Korean Conflict. He was a life time member of the Mayville V.F.W. where he served as chaplain. Marvin worked for GM at the Pontiac Truck and Bus Plant for 30 years retiring at the age of 49, but continued to work the farm until 1996.
He was a founding member of The Meeting Place Worship Center in Kingston, MI. Marvin was a faithful follower of his Lord Jesus Christ and read his Bible every morning completing the entire Bible every year for 50 years. He loved his church family he was welcoming guests and members alike.
Marvin loved traveling; the only state he had not been to was Hawaii. He loved Bluegrass and Old Country music traveling many times to Nashville and other venues to see his favorite performers.
He loved his family and spending time with them. Marvin is survived by his wife, Phyllis; son, Tim (Natalie); granddaughter, Christine Hiler (Adam); grandson, David; great-grandchildren, Asaph, Ezri, Barringer, Abijah, and Obadiah; sisters, Wanda Miles, Marilyn Ensign, Doris Hudson (Donnie); Maxine Miller; and Patsy Miller (Elmer); brother, Roy (Geraldine); and sister-in-law, Rosemary, as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Donald, Kenneth (Francis); and brothers-in-law, Doug Ensign, Bob Miles, and Bud Miller.
Visitation will be held at The Meeting Place Worship Center in Kingston, MI on Wednesday, February 15, 2023 from 10:00am -1:00pm. A Memorial Service will be held at 1 PM with Pastor Tim L. Rich officiating.
Burial will take place in the West Burlington Cemetery in Burlington Twp. MI.

David Wayne Mietz, age 58, of Caro passed away on Wednesday, February 8, 2023 at Ascension St. Mary’s Hospital in Saginaw with his family and friends by his side.
He was born April 14, 1964 in Fort Hood, Tx to Elezar and Garnet (Berry) Mietz. David married Lois Reside on May 27, 1988 in Caro. He loved riding his motorcycle and pedal bikes. David was a man of many trades. He enjoyed Classic Cars and sharing time with his grand daughters and friends. He was a very giving man. “He loved to laugh and make other people laugh.”
David is survived by his wife, Lois; daughter, Misty (Miles) Dibble; brother, Darin (Chrystal) Mietz; grand daughters, Emma and Elaina Dibble; and his mother, Garnet Mietz.
He was preceded in death by his father, Elezar in 2004.
The family will receive visitors from 11AM -3 PM on Sunday, February 12, 2023 at Avram Funeral Home.

We are sad to announce that on January 31, 2023 we had to say goodbye to Onaleigh Rose Andrews of Brighton, Michigan, born in Caro, Michigan.
She was predeceased by : her parents, Edward Wasielewski and Helen Wasielewski; and her brother Robert Wasielewski (Carol). She is survived by : her step-father Tony Maciejewski; her husband Donald Andrews; her children, Connie Knieper (Mike), Douglas Andrews (Shelly), Kimberly Chatterson and Steven Andrews (Dawn); her grandchildren, Alex Chatterson, Lexi Andrews and Carter Chatterson; her great grandchild Graylin Chatterson; and her sisters, Arlene Hoag (late Leroy) and Sylvia Putnam (late Donald). She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Friday, February 3rd 2023 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Saturday, February 4th 2023 at 10:00 AM. A funeral mass was held on Saturday, February 4th 2023 at 11:00 AM at the St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church (2201 S Old US Hwy 23, Brighton, MI 48114).

Floyd Leroy Rexin, age 71, of Mayville, MI passed away on Monday, February 6, 2023 at Covenant Healthcare Harrison in Saginaw, MI.
He was born May 20, 1951 in Flint, MI to George and Margaret (Lucas) Rexin. He graduated from Mayville High School with the Class of 1970. Through the years, Floyd was known as a hard worker with a large skill-set that covered building, driving big rigs, heavy equipment operator at Marlette Excavating and working in the tool room at Kelsey Hayes. Floyd would work all day and head out to the farm to drive tractor all night. He was an amazing cook. Floyd had a big heart and enjoyed seeing his grandchildren and being around friends and family.
Floyd is survived by his two daughters, Stephanie (Nathaniel) Remo of Cincinnati, OH. Pamela (Dusty) Alt of Reese, MI; grandchildren, Kayla Barnes, Kylee Remo, Brandon Hadaway and Austin Osterbeck; sister, Barbara (Ed) Vollweiler of Celina, Tx; brother, Virgil Rexin of Mayville, MI; many nephews; and great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Margaret; brother, Melvin Rexin; nephew, Ryan Rexin.
A Celebration of Life will take place at at later date.

Cynthia Marie Stratton, age 67, of Mayville passed away on Sunday, February 5, 2023 at her home.
She was born June 11, 1955 in Lapeer, MI to Myron and June Strasburg. Cynthia was a graduate of Mayville High School with the Class of 1973. She married Donald Stratton on January 25, 1975 in Marlette, MI. He preceded her in death in 2011. Cynthia enjoyed playing cards, bingo and garage sales. She loved her Women’s Wednesday with her family. Her family was her life.
Cynthia is survived by her children, Steven (Charity) Stratton and Stepfanie Stratton (Johnathon Sas); siblings, Sandy (Claude) Field and Myron (Rachelle) Strasburg; and cousin, Beverly (Ken) Ball.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 2011, Donald; sisters Debbie (Bob) Field and Tonya Copple.

Freida Marie Tompkins, 91, of Fostoria, MI, passed away on January, 26, 2023 in the comforts of her home.
She was born in Smithville, Arkansas to the late Charles and Lucy Haskins. Freida grew up in Mayville, Michigan where she married the love of her life, Donald Tompkins in 1950. Frieda was a very spiritual woman who sang in the church choir when she was younger. She loved the outdoors, watching and feeding the birds, and working in her yard and flower beds. Frieda was also a fashion icon who loved shopping for clothing, especially animal prints. She liked reading, gardening, and homeopathic healing magazines. Most of all, she loved her family.
Frieda is survived by her children, Susan (Alan) Fox, Deborah (Bob) Shadley and Matthew (LoAnne) Tompkins; grandchildren, Kim (Jeff) Fanelli, Andrew (Roberta) Fox, Todd (Tammy) Walker, Angie (Jeff) Jostock, Aimee (Kevin) Smith, Alyssa (Brad) Ruff, Matthew (Kelsey) Tompkins; great grandchildren, Sofia Fanelli and Emilia Fanelli, Lainy and Emily Borgerding, Zoe and Elijah Fox, Brevin and Bryson Smith, Cole, Cade and Chloe Walker, Logan, Kendra and Matthew Tompkins and Layla Ruff; brother, Charles “Chuckie” (Louise) Haskins; sister-in-laws, Joyce Cargill and Sharon Tompkins and friend, John Clouse.

Michael Lyon, age 56, of Silverwood, MI, passed away on January 26, 2023 at Covenant Health Care in Saginaw, MI.
He was born March 17, 1966 in Marlette, Michigan to Dick and Velma (Traver) Lyon. Michael attended Mayville High School and graduated with the class of 1984. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, farming, watching NASCAR and his dogs. Michael was a hard worker and loved his job. He worked as a skilled trade die maker at Industrial Machine Products in Oxford for many years.
Michael is survived by his son, Brandon Lyon; grandchildren, Tate and Vivian Lyon; mother, Velma (Dan) Sinka; step mother, Judy Lyon; siblings, Laura Lyon and Christopher (Ryan Obregan) Lyon; several aunts, uncles and cousins; and his dogs, Mia and her puppy.
He was preceded in death by his father, Dick Lyon; brother, Warner Lyon in 1984.

Frances Marie Dietz, age 59, of Mayville passed away at Covenant Cooper in Saginaw.
She was born August 17, 1963 in Marlette to Raymond and Naomia (Marlow) Dietz. Frances was a graduate of Mayville High School. She worked as a restaurant manager. Frances enjoyed latch hook, fishing, the outdoors and loved her cats. She attended Spring of Life Church. Frances took care of her parents.
Frances is survived by her brothers, Dennis Dietz, Roger (Mary) Dietz and Duane Dietz; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded on death by her parents; and her brother, Larry Dietz.
The family will receive visitors from 10-11 AM on Thursday, January 18, 2023 at Avram Funeral Home.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, January 18, 2023 at Avram Funeral Home with Pastor Dennis Squires officiating.
Memorial may be made to the Family Discretionary Fund.

Our beautiful loving mother, Helen (Peg) Marie Frenzel, 91, passed away January 14, 2023 at Heritage Hill in Caro, MI. Helen was born on March 2, 1931 and was the daughter of Charles and Laura Crosby. She was the youngest of five children and she grew up on their family farm on Maier Road in Mayville, MI.
Helen graduated from Mayville High School with the Class of 1949. She married Howard Frenzel on September 17, 1949 and she lived in Mayville as a housewife all her life. She was a devoted member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and was an avid fan of her children’s, grandchildren’s and great-grandchildren’s sporting events.
Helen is survived by her children, Randy and Nancy (Young) Frenzel, David and Debbie (Fox) Frenzel, Bill and Patti (Baber) Frenzel, Brad and Dawn (Kilmer) Frenzel and son-in-law, Ken Draheim; her grandchildren, Eric and Tonya Frenzel, Scott and Nicole Frenzel, Rachel TerBush, Annie and Pat Yens, Steven and Ashley Draheim, Christopher and Jess Heckman, and Ammy Heckman; her great grandchildren, Madison Frenzel, Lauryn and Mike Redfield, Hannah Frenzel, Brittany and Justin Hamilton, Zachary Yens, Tyler Yens, Natalie Yens, Andrew TerBush, Ella TerBush, Reese Draheim, Brooks Draheim, Jack Heckman and Henry Heckman.
Helen was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 70 years, Howard Frenzel; her much loved daughter, Elizabeth (Frenzel) Draheim; and her siblings, Ken, Winifred, Genevieve and Joseph.
The family will receive visitors from 3-8 PM on Tuesday, January 17, 2023 at Avram Funeral Home in Mayville and from 10-11 AM on Wednesday, January 18, 2023 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Mayville.
A funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday, January 18, 2023 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Mayville. Burial will take place at Fremont Township Cemetery.
The family would like to thank Heritage Hill Assisted Living for taking such good care of their mother and Compassus for making her final days comfortable.

Donald “Randy” Eugene Tompkins, age 67 of Fostoria, MI passed away Wednesday, January 11, 2023 at Villages of Lapeer Nursing and Rehabilitation in Lapeer, MI with his daughter by his side.
He was born April 10, 1955 in Flint, MI to Donald H. and Frieda (Haskins) Tompkins. Randy married Anne Marie on March 23, 1985 in Las Vegas, NV. He attended Pleasant view Free Methodist Church and sang in the choirs for many years. Randy was a man of few words. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and being outdoors. He loved spending time with his grand children.
Randy is survived by his daughter, Aimee (Kevin) Smith, grandchildren, Logan, Kendra, Bryson, Brevin, Elizabeth, Analisa, and Samarah; one great granddaughter on the way; mother, Frieda Tompkins; siblings, Susan (Alan) Fox, Debra (Bob) Shadley and Matthew (Loanne) Tompkins; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 36 years, Anne in March of 2021; father, Donald H. Tompkins; and son, Michael Tompkins.
